Industrial Exposure Visit Program by the Faculty of Commerce and Management, Eastern University, Sri Lanka

The Faculty of Commerce and Management at Eastern University, Sri Lanka, successfully conducted the Industrial Exposure Visit Program on June 12 and 13, 2025, for final-year BCom (Hons) and BBA (Hons) students. The initiative, linked to key academic modules, aimed to bridge classroom theory with practical industry experience and enhance career readiness. On June 12, 134 BCom students, along with five academic staff, visited Gal-Oya Plantations (Pvt) Ltd in Ampara, gaining insights into sugarcane cultivation, processing, and sustainable agro-industry practices. On June 13, BBA students visited three companies in Trincomalee: 65 students visited Tokyo Eastern Cement Company to explore cement manufacturing and logistics; 50 students toured Jay Jay Mills Lanka to understand textile production and HR practices; and 30 students visited Nor Lanka Manufacturing to learn about lean systems and textile production. The visits were well-organized under the coordination of Mr. K. Pushpakaran, with the support of Dean Prof. N. Rajeshwaran. Students received pre-visit briefings, safety instructions, and professional guidance. The program helped students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications in areas like supply chain, finance, HRM, and strategy, while also enhancing their communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills. The faculty expressed gratitude to participating companies and proposed future collaborations through MoUs.
