"Demystifying the Capital Market" Workshop and MoU
The "Demystifying the Capital Market" workshop and MoU renewal ceremony were successfully held on 11th November 2024, at Nalliah Auditorium, organized by Faculty of Commerce and Management, Eastern University, Sri Lanka in partnership with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC). This event, generously sponsored by the SEC, brought together representatives from the SEC, including Mr. Tushara Jayaratne, Deputy Director General; Ms. Sheena Goonaratne, Senior Manager of External Relations; Mr. Nimal Kumarasigha, Manager of External Relations; and Mr. Imran Ahamad, Senior Assistant Manager of External Relations. The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp and a vibrant welcome dance performed by second-year students from the Faculty of Commerce and Management. Prof. N. Rajeshwaran, Dean of the Faculty, officially welcomed the attendees with opening remarks. Following this, Ms. Sheena Goonaratne addressed the gathering, which was followed by an inspiring speech from Prof. V. Kanagasingam, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Sri Lanka. The educational aspect of the event featured Mr. Tushara Jayaratne, who provided an overview of the Sri Lankan capital market, and Mr. Arumainayagam Visaahan, Vice President of Research at Asha Securities Ltd., who delivered insights on the macroeconomic environment and investment opportunities. A highlight of the day was the formal renewal of the MoU between the SEC and Eastern University, Sri Lanka further strengthening their collaboration. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Treshalin Sellar, National Link Coordinator, Faculty of Commerce and Management.
