Women’s Day Commemoration 2026

The Women’s Day Commemoration 2026 was held on 16 March 2026 to celebrate women’s achievements and to promote gender equity and equality within the academic community. The programme featured cultural performances, along with a series of student competitions, including a debate competition, art competition, and short video competition, all centred on themes of women’s empowerment and gender equality.

The event was further enriched by a guest speech delivered by Mrs. Shivapiriya Vilvaratnam, Divisional Secretary of the Divisional Secretariat, Manmunai North, and Council Member of Eastern University, Sri Lanka, who shared valuable insights on gender equity and women’s leadership.

A special segment of the programme recognized and appreciated the contributions of women academic and non-academic staff of the Faculty of Commerce and Management (FCM), with appreciation expressed by students. This was followed by an awarding ceremony for the winners of the competitions. The event highlighted the faculty’s continued commitment to fostering inclusivity and advancing gender equity and equality.
